Kim’s Video from East Village, New York City, is moving from NYC to Salemi in south west Sicily and will live La Dolce Vita as reported in New York Times today 2/8/09 the 8th February 2009.

Ms Franca Pauli president of an art foundation called Clio assisted Kim’s Video in their transfer to Salemi along with her colleagues Glen Hyman and Dario Colombo. Kim’s video collection will be arriving in Sicily towards the end of the month and will then be hosted in a 17th centurary Jesuit college in the centre of Salemi, where the Salemi civic museam is also hosted. Film lovers will be invited to visit Salemi in Sicily and visit the Never Ending Festival projecting Mr Yongman Kim video collection non stop 24 hours a day.

The Salemi administration lead by Mr Vittorio Sgarbi, Salemi mayor, and the head of the department of Creativity Mr Toscani are currently managing the Salemi regeneration project and offering some of the old town houses for 1 euro.

Mr Vittorio Sgarbi italian art critic and mayor of Salemi in Sicily has refused a place on the Italian reality TV show Fattoria edition number 4, turning down a potential two 2 million euro deal, time in Brazil (where it is filmed) and the chance of staring with his ex Elenoire Casalegno. This has triggered big news in Italy as it has also been made public that the BBC are to film a TV reality show about an english couple who are to buy a 1 euro italian property in Salemi Sicily. The mayor will star on the BBC reality show but not the Italian one.

Salemi councillor, Toscani has registered the brand MAFIA on behalf of the Sicilian town, Salemi in Italy.

In a controversial move the Salemi mayor, Vittorio Sgarbi, said that Oliviero Toscani, (councillor for creativity for Salemi and currently responsible for communication regarding the offer of the 1 Euro houses in Salemi, Sicily, Italy) was “thinking about the advantages of the town”.

Toscani revealed regarding The acronym M.A.F.I.A that ”There is no particular study behind this label… We will use it as a vehicle for some communication projects,” he said.

Sgarbi – himself no stranger to controversy – invited Toscani to form part of his inner cabinet when he won the local elections on a centrist UDC and Christian Democrat coalition ticket in June.

The motormouth art critic left his post in Milan after months of disputes with centre-right mayor Letizia Moratti, including one over a gay art show that was to have featured a sculpture of Pope Benedict XVI in drag.

Sgarbi’s vision of regeneration in Salemi was highlighted with the Salemi councils offer of properties in Italy at 1 Euro. These cheap houses offer the possibility to buy a house in Italy.

This morning the Salemi council emailed all the registered interested parties an invite to reply to them with a “letter of introduction” about yourself. If you are an MIPC free user, as explained at the time, your relationship is now directly with the council. (unless you want MIPC to act on your behalf) Good luck I’d advise you to send your letter of introduction asap.

For MIPC free users who now may feel a little lost on what now to do then either relate directly with the council or if you wish MIPC to act on your behalf then upgrade to an MIPC Salemi Premium member and take advantage of MIPC’s official partner relationship with the council. I have spoke to the council this morning and have a good indication of the information they are seeking from you.

Theatres, hotels, art galleries, artistic workshops, restaurants to name but a few.

Since my last trip to Salemi I have been unindated with applications for a Salemi 1 euro house. So this time i will get some more photographs, videos, answer to questions and lots of local information.
