Salemi kims video in Sicily radio PRI

Salemi Sicily on US TV
Salemi in Sicily has recently been documented on TV in the states. I have been told that it was on PRI program, the world and ona channel called NPR.
If anyone out there can send me details of these channels so i can contact them for a copy of their documentary it would be much appreciate.

On average, how large are these homes – how many square metres each?
They are currently ruins and need completly rebuilding, average size will be from 70 -100sqm
Is it possible to choose property with the best view, easiest street access, least damage or other attributes?
Allocation details have not yet been released, there are rumours of auctions, preference to cultural/artistic applicants and people who will live here…the objective is to have a buzzing community not a ghost town.
Can the purchaser get a written guarantee of the “thousand euros per square metre” repair pricing?
Building contracts come with price guarantees. The final price is to be determined obviously.
What rules are in place to prevent price gouging from local builders?
The council may appoint large contractors on fixed prices.
What, if any, is the penalty for failure to complete restoration within the two-year limit?
This is more a commitment to complete rather than a deadline. The council don’t want people sitting on land and not completing the restoration.
Is it possible for me, a U.S. citizen, to fully own such a house?
Yes US citizens can fully owna house in Italy. No problem.
If so, how does ownership affect my visa and/or immigration status in Sicily?
Best to ask your consulate that 1.
Would I be able to live in my Salemi home for extended periods, or would I be subject to regular visitor status regardless of owning Sicilian property?
Yes the council want people to live here. Re visas ask consulate.
Eluana has died. Italian Senate too late.
Eluana died or killed ?
In Italy a young girl called Eluana Englaro had a car crash in 1992, since when she has remained in a como. She is now 38. Her father Beppino Englaro has been battling with the courts in Italy to let his daughter die since 1999, insisting it was her wish, as she did not want to be kept alive artificially.
Today the Italian senate was due to debate an emergency government decree to stop doctors withdrawing life support from a woman in a permanent vegative state.
PM Silvio Berlusconi drafted the decree last week, but President Giorgio Napolitano has refused to sign it.
Protests from both sides manifesting that the state can’t change the constitution and others protesting to save Eluana will now unfortunately for Eluana be posthumous.

Kims Video Salemi Sicily : Kim video in Italy
Kim’s Video from East Village, New York City, is moving from NYC to Salemi in south west Sicily and will live La Dolce Vita as reported in New York Times today 2/8/09 the 8th February 2009.
Lasy year Yongman Kim was looking for a home for his video collection. Through a intriguing series of events the council of Salemi in western sicily are excited to become the new home of kim’s video collection.

Ms Franca Pauli president of an art foundation called Clio assisted Kim’s Video in their transfer to Salemi along with her colleagues Glen Hyman and Dario Colombo. Kim’s video collection will be arriving in Sicily towards the end of the month and will then be hosted in a 17th centurary Jesuit college in the centre of Salemi, where the Salemi civic museam is also hosted. Film lovers will be invited to visit Salemi in Sicily and visit the Never Ending Festival projecting Mr Yongman Kim video collection non stop 24 hours a day.
The Salemi administration lead by Mr Vittorio Sgarbi, Salemi mayor, and the head of the department of Creativity Mr Toscani are currently managing the Salemi regeneration project and offering some of the old town houses for 1 euro.

England v Italy 2009 RBS Six Nations 6 nations Twickenham.
England’s opening match will be their 250th at Twickenham as they look to continue their 100% record against Italy, in their first match of this year’s tournament.
Flanker Steffon Armitage is poised to make his international debut alongside brother Delon and the pair will become only the ninth set of siblings to play in the same England team.
Italy are fielding a strong side, Mauro Bergamasco, normally a flanker, starts at scrum-half for Italy. The brother of Italy winger Mirco has also played on the wing for the Azzurri, and Italy coach Nick Mallett said he “didn’t have much choice” at number nine. “This is something I want to try. Mauro has no fear of these type of games and I hope he has a great game against England,” said Mallet. “This is a difficult game for Mauro but the whole team is behind him.”

Luton Airport saturday 7/02/09 update
Luton airport AGAIN. Starting to feel like Tom Hanks in The Terminal, pity they don’t charge for the trolleys here.
Due to the recent bad weather, snow, cancellations, rescheduling…. I thought an update on the status of flights at Luton airport was due. If you read my other post ( click “italy tourism” under the “Select postings by category”) you’ll realise my flight was cancelled on Thursday, so here we are again back at Luton airport ready for Saturday 7/02/09 departures from Luton airport.
Today on the news, websites, it was looking bad. Luton airport runway closed, shuttle bus to Luton airport cancelled, they even advised on BBC regional news to walk from Luton railway station !!! so i thought i’d set off early and make sure i made it. Well I obviously am not the only one, the depature lounge is full, people sleeping, chatting, blogging, drinking and even singing.
Buses are now running to Luton airport, so you can get here. The M1 is clear and the road to Luton airport is also clear. Access is good!! The car parks are snowed over, so go carefully parking up. A few late departures from Luton airport have been CANCELLED, others rescheduled. This is worrying.
Non of the early morning flights have been cancelled. SO fingers crossed, if it doesn’t freeze over night we should all be heading off to our destinations.
PS. There is a group of guys in the bar, one has just started playing the guitar and singing. This is not Friday Night airport planned entertainment, but the guys good. OTher travellers are huddling in for a sing along. Its good to still see society can be friendly. The guys even just got an applause and the airport staff are joining in.

Luton Airport UK snow flight info cancellations
Luton Airport lights 18/12/09 : BA may have cancelled their strike and millions will now be flying over the festive peroid, others are stranded as Flyglobespan go into bankruptcy BUT watch out for the snow reports. Friday 18th December heavy snow is forecasted for the UK and you may experience what happened to me this february read below. From experience i would advise you to proceed to your flight in that no cancelllations have been announced just yet. Cancellations, if any, will only be announced in the morning, but by then its too late to know. If in doubt contact your travel agent, airline compan. The snow has fallen over night in the EAst and SE of the country. Luton Airport this morning Thursday 5th February 2009 : 05/02/09 has been hit by bad weather and heavy snow over night. Arrivals and departures are been cancelled, rescheduled, delayed and there is mayhem. I am sat here in the airport bringing you a live update.
